- 12 Step Process to Creating Operator Prompts
The Augmented Seller
12 step process to creating prompts for Operator that actually work
Patience is key. Crafting a prompt that actually delivers takes time. Most tasks involve multiple steps and edge cases. We underestimate how quickly our brains troubleshoot. If we want Operator to think like us, we need clear, precise instructions, there's no shortcut.
Record the exact process. Use a tool like Guidde to walk through each step of the task. These tools don't just record but break down the process, forming the foundation of your instructions.
Provide Operator with the instructions. Share the link to your documented process and ask Operator to extract the exact steps required to complete the task.
Test execution. Ask Operator to execute the task based on the extracted steps. What happens next is crucial.
Refine through troubleshooting. When Operator hits a roadblock (which it will), continue prompting until it gets past the issue.
Repeat step 5. Every time Operator encounters a problem, work through it until completion.
Gather insights. Once the task is completed, ask Operator to list what it learned during the process.
Optimize the instructions. Have Operator update the steps based on these new learnings.
Test again. Once the steps are updated, ask Operator to execute the task again with the refined instructions.
Repeat steps 4-9 until all edge cases are addressed, and Operator can complete the task flawlessly without stopping.
Keep it concise. Ensure the final instructions are 1000 characters or less so the task can be saved for future use.
Save the task. Now you have a killer prompt that can be reused anytime!
